The National Women of Colour in Policing (NWoCiP) group has been set up to develop an understanding of lived experiences, barriers to development and progression of women from ethnically diverse communities in policing.

The group, through the implementation of four pillars (CPD, Cultural change, Confidence in expression, Characteristics & Intersectionality) act as a focal point for discussions, leadership, and direction in improving and celebrating the position of all WoCiP, whether an officer, staff member or volunteer. 

The aim of the group is to improve and support the voice, position and confidence of women from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds by understanding lived experiences, barriers and challenges to their development. Working both independently and with other networks and allies we want to create a culture for WoCiP to thrive and progress.

We work to remove barriers and seek to influence current policies and effective practice including force good practice and policies of ‘Positive Action’ with due consideration to the National Police Race Action Plan (PRAP), Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and national work such as Op. Hotton, the Casey Report and the Angelini Report.

We are a voluntary group of people from varying ranks and roles within policing who are passionate about delivering the aim of the group.
